The Air cadet participate in a number of different types of Drill, this may included Parade Drill, Competition Drill, Banner Drill and Rifle Drill.
All the different types of drill help the cadets develop in different ways such as, Organisation, Pride, Discipline, Team Work and Routine.
Wearing your uniform in the public eye in competitions and on public parades makes you feel a sense of pride and unity.

The Air Cadets plays an active role in the local community. A major part of the training for any cadet is citizenship training and the topic forms part of the Air Cadets syllabus. Through participating in community projects you will build an understanding of how a community functions and the difference you can make now or in the future.
Getting involved in music is a great way of socialising and of promoting the RAFAC wherever you play to the public. If you show real talent you could take your playing to the next level in wing, regional and national bands where our best players perform at public events often at some very prestigious locations such as Buckingham Palace!
The main National camps are arranged by Air Cadets HQ and takes the form of a week’s work experience with one of the two professional RAF Bands based at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire: the Band of the RAF College or the Band of the RAF Regiment. Sharing a stage with the best musicians in the RAF is a priceless experience!
You can also do a BTEC qualifications in Music and turn your fun and talent into a formal qualification.
Based on a traditional wind band, the National Concert Band caters for all woodwind and brass instruments, as well as percussionists and bass players.
During lockdown our National Concert Band performed 'Africa' virtually.
The National Marching Band was formed in 2006 and comprises of a full military wind band and the Corps of Drums.

The National Pipes and Drums of the RAFAC as it exists today was initially formed in 2008 by the efforts of Wing Commander DC McCrae, Officer Commanding South East Scotland Wing, and Sqn Ldr Alan Forster, then Assistant Regional Commandant Scotland & Northern Ireland Region.
The National Choir was formed in 2016 as a special project for the ATC 75 celebrations at RAF Cranwell and performed for thousands of people at the event.

The National String Ensemble was formed in 2019, following conversations across the organisation that identified that string players required a national ensemble to allow them opportunities to perform as a group.
Each year musicians from across the ACO battle it out to be the best in their category. Starting at Wing level to Corps, being the best Drum Major to Percussionist and everything in between.
